A transplanted Northerner hailing from Lorain, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Clinton, New Jersey, I am still amazed that I have lived in Atlanta for over 35 years. Two sets of my great-grandparents emigrated from Slovenia and one set from Bagni di Lucca, Italy. These ties draw me strongly to these countries and my heritage.
A degree in Math and Computer Science from Georgia State University hasn’t contributed much to my jack of all trades philosophy nor hindered me from an interest in a variety of fields. After meeting Andrew in 1987, I took my first trip out of the country to Belize as a backpacker and never looked back. Our next trip, was to Peru, a lifelong goal of mine, and where I fell in love with South America. Soon after, we set our sights on Asia, where we taught English in Taiwan. Our adventures there took us to Nepal, which is still my favorite destination, and where I am hoping will be Lost World Adventure’s next new destination.
Andrew and I have one son, Matthew, now an adult, who accompanied us on trips throughout his formative years and had been to 6 continents before age 17. He is currently considering universities and his interests are wrestling, robotics and is a proud an Eagle Scout.
Since our guests are mainly virtual, we also host an AirBnB to keep us connected to the service experience. Though our ties are in Atlanta, we also visit our second home, Beck Hither, in Red Lodge, Montana as much as possible. Most recently, we travelled to Bagni di Lucca and Cinque Terra, Italy, as well as Granada, Spain, where our son took an immersion course in Spanish. The bucket list is still long and I am excited about further establishing Lost World’s mission and reach. I am newly blogging at misadventuresome.com.
