Biography

I grew up the youngest of 3 children—with 2 older brothers (Davis and Louis)—in downtown Frankfort, KY, a small town, close-knit community. I’m a very active and imaginative person, so growing up, I was always looking for the adventure in every situation—tree climbing, creek trekking, and discovering the unknown/self-made walking tours around town were daily activities. From before I was born until I went off to college, our well-traveled parents made sure my brothers and I never settled for the easy way; by that I mean that they pushed us to expand our education, our minds, and our experiences through travel—never staying put just because it was comfortable. We took annual trips to the Bahamas and Honduras for family reunions until I was about 8 yrs old. I’d bet there’s not one inch of Andros Island I haven’t seen. In high school, I was able to go to the United Kingdom (Scotland, England, and Wales) with the boys and girls soccer teams to play against the club teams there.

My family has hosted 3 Brazilian exchange students in total (Victor—Davis’ senior year, Victor’s long-time friend, Fernando—Louis’ senior year, and Fernando’s little sister, Gabriela—my junior year). I learned so much from those three, especially Gabi (I consider her my sister) who stayed with us for the full year. My family and I got to go down to Sao Paulo, BR to visit Victor’s family, travelling to Foz do Iguaçu and Itu in the country. I was able to go down again with Gabi for a couple weeks my senior year, this time visiting the island of Florianopolis.

I’ve always been very fascinated with history and stories; I see them like timeline puzzle/riddle. I want to know how things came about, I want to know the series of events that lined up in such a way, I want to know how things relate—past to present. These curiosities about the world, and more specifically about the rich cultures from which it’s made, have fueled every aspect of my life.

At Agnes Scott College, I mostly studied Spanish, History, Psychology and eventually focused my major and received my degree in  Business Management.

As an Operations & Reservations Specialist here at Lost World, I oversee the final processes of reserving and confirming all the customized services requested by our clients. In a way, it’s a lot like joining the final pieces of a puzzle together (by far the best part, right?). I work with our suppliers in destination to make sure our clients receive the exact trip they want.  I love being a part of LWA! It’s more than just an office of travel agents that have never been to the destinations they sell. There’s an atmosphere here of like-minded, adventurous individuals who have a passion for travel and who want to share that passion with everyone. We don’t just send clients to see Latin America, we send them to experience it—to be immersed in ancient cultures, to expand horizons (and taste palettes), and to boldly engage in one-of-a-kind adventures!
