Nibepo Aike , Argentina

Nibepo Aike is an estancia (ranch) that retains the essence of the original Patagonian estancias.

Imposing mountains, far from everything but close to the Perito Moreno Glacier in the Argentinean Patagonia, at Estancia Nibepo Aike rural life never stops.

It is located within “Los Glaciares” National Park on the banks of the Southern Arm of Lago Argentino, 34 miles from El Calafate, covering an area of more than 12,000 hectares, stretching to the border with Chile.

The estancia was formerly devoted to sheep production, maintaining a small herd nowadays, but its main output is breeding Hereford cattle, for which it has developed a prestigious herd. The main buildings of the estancia are a relic of the typically Patagonian pioneer architecture. Guests at the lodge, located in the former main house, are invited to experience the authentic life of Patagonian estancias. The imposing view of the Andes mountain range is ever-present, while the estancia’s everyday life carries on and it is common to see the men riding past herding the cattle and sheep while disappearing over the horizon. Behind the house is the farm and orchard which provides most of the food freshly prepared at the estancia. Horseback riding, hiking and trekking, and participating in rural activities are some of the activities offered to guests.

You may choose among many different options, making the estancia suitable for lots of different passenger profiles:

Lodging at the estancia’s “casco” (main building) with full board, pre-organized activities and daily scheduled transfers from El Calafate.

Horseback Trek to the Hidden Glaciers – a 5-day program for keen riders willing to explore Nibepo Aike and some of the national park’s most remote glaciers. It includes 2 or 3 nights, depending the month, sleeping in the outposts of the estancia. There are two monthly fixed departures and private departures can be arranged as well.

Ranch day – a half-day or full-day program starting from the estancia or El Calafate. Perfect to visit the estancia, enjoy farming activities and tasting exquisite cordero patagónico (Patagonic lamb). There is a longer option that includes a 3-hour horseback ride after lunch. You will meet the guide for the long ride through the different trails around the property.

New options:

Nibepo Aike PLUS is a special program for guests looking to experience the Estancia with exclusive and private services. It is perfect for those who prefer having a guide at their disposal rather than exploring the area on their own or taking part in pre-organized activities. The PLUS experience is like visiting a dear friend who has been long expecting your visit and has everything ready for your stay. Each day personalized activities can be organized, such us hikes, bike rides, horseback riding and picnics set in stunning places known only by locals. When saying goodbye guests will receive a nice present to take home, and for sure very nice memories to share. The Nibepo PLUS program adds more services to the classic lodging option: Wine and soft drinks during meals, private guided activities within the property, personalized check-in and welcome drink, a pair of Alpargatas (traditional Argentine footwear), laundry service, a surprise gift, Superior Room accommodations. This program is for stays of 2, 3 or 4 nights.

Glamping at the Outpost - a wooden house located a 6-hour ride from the estancia main houses. It is a luxury to spend a night there, with billions of stars decorating the night sky. One night of pure peace, surrounded by nature with the Andes as a background. The program can only be booked in private, up to 6 people, and includes full board and scheduled shuttle service from El Calafate.
