Baía das Pedras is located in the Nhecolândia region, in the heart of the Pantanal, in the municipality of Aquidauana, Brazil 300 km from Campo Grande, capital of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
Pantanal inhabitants hospitality has been a tradition at Baía das Pedras, which in July 2003 had its main house been completely renovated in order to meet the guests needs.
The hosts Dóio and Rita are in charge of the property, where -besides the ranch - there are extensive cattle-raising activities and also raising of wetland horses.
The delights of the Fazenda Baía das Pedrasfarm kitchen are in abundance on our table. A selection of dishes that best represent the richness and flavor of Pantanal cuisine. During every meal you will enjoy recipes made with fresh products, all made with great care by our chefs.
Breakfast is served very early. Here you can enjoy the traditional crooked wraps, as well as homemade breads, cornmeal cake, cassava cake, biscuits, cheese, fruits, yogurts, fruit juices and hot drinks such as milk, coffee and tea.
For lunch and dinner, a different feast every day: salads, white rice, carreteiro rice, marshland barbecue with noble meat, cassava, dishes made with local fish such as piranha broth and delicious desserts.
Good Pantanal hospitality continues a tradition in Baía das Pedras, which in July 2003 had its headquarters completely renovated to receive visitors. The host couple Dóio and Rita are currently responsible for the property, where in addition to the ranch hotel they maintain extensive livestock and breeding of wetland horses.
At any time, hammocks in front of the house offer a nice rest to the sound of birds. Around the office, you will also find a balcony, a dining room and a TV room that compose the living areas of the house. It is the same place where meals are prepared in a traditional iron wood stove.
First of all, relax and enjoy the scenery. As soon as you get to Baía das Pedras, you are already in the heart of Pantanal - where the beautiful sky and the sounds of nature will be amazing and unforgettable. You will feel invited to approach the natural life and culture of the place through the activities that the farm offers.
As you tour around, you will easily be able to see marsh deer, pampas deer and brockets, capybaras, alligators, howler monkeys, tapirs, peccaries, toucan, wood ibis, blue macaws, blue and yellow macaws, red macaws and over a hundred other species of birds. Hopefully, you will be met by the puma and the gray eagle as well.
Rides along the farm are made in open vans equipped with seats and a canopy. You can go horseback-riding on one of the 16 Pantanal tamed-horses. Also, you can take bay trips in aluminum boats for up to three people.
