Valley of The Moon
Departure from the hotel by van to the Salt Caves for a walking tour of these geological formations; then by van to the Valley of the Moon where we will climb the Duna Mayor (Major Dune) which provides a beautiful view of the Cordillera de la Sal, the Valley of Death, and the Salt Flats among many other sights.
Then the van will take us to the Tres Marias (Three Marys), a rock formation more than a million years old. Return to the hotel.
Fortress on The Heights
Departure from the hotel by van to Zapar. Zapar is a town southwest of San Pedro de Atacama, renowned for its great archaeological wealth. Here we will take a walking tour to discover the vestiges of the Atacama culture, finally ending in the Zapar valley.
El Tatio Geysers & The Town of Machuca
Departure from the hotel by van to the El Tatio Geysers. There we will take a walking tour along the trails within the geothermal field, observing the water spouts and pools of boiling water. After this walk, the van will take us to visit the small town of Machuca, characteristic of the Atacama desert. Return to the hotel.
Roots of Lican - Antai Knowledge
Departure from the hotel to the Father Le Paige Museum which houses excellent displays of artifacts from the Atacama culture such as domestic utensils, ceramic pots, and many other items.
We will spend one hour here and then continue by van to Tambo Katarpe, a former administrative center of the Inca culture which differs from the other towns in that it has terraces along the river. Here we will take a walk to observe archaeological remains of the Inca culture, as well as the beautiful landscape.
Then we will carry on to Quitor to visit the Pucará with the same name. The Quitor Pucará was declared a national monument in 1980. Return to the hotel.
Lican - Antai Ayllus
Departure from the hotel located in the Yaye Ayllu to visit the Conde Duque Ayllu. Here we will visit the church of San Pedro, the plaza, and an artisan’s center.
We will then continue our journey to the Sequitor Ayllu located south-west of the center of San Pedro de Atacama where we will take a short tour of this archaeologically rich zone, including a walking tour to visit ruins of former settlements in the zone. The excursion will continue to the Solor Ayllu one of the most traditional and emblematic of the Ayllus, located on the ecological floor of the oases and salt flats, where we will visit the Solor church.
Finally, we will drive to the Tulor Ayllu for a walk around the village of Tulor, one of the most important archaeological sites in San Pedro de Atacama. Return to the hotel.
Sunset in Chaxas
Departure from the hotel by van to Toconao where we will tour the town, visiting some places such as the Belfry and shops selling artisanal products. Then we will drive on to the Chaxas Lake to walk the trails laid out for observing the different types of bird life and finally enjoy a beautiful sunset.
Valley of The 7 Colors by Mountain Bike
Departure from the hotel by van to Matancilla, located in the Gorge of the 7 Colors. From the end of this valley, we will start the descent on mountain bikes, passing the crossroads to Rio Grande to finally reach Hierbas Buenas where we will take a hike to look at the petroglyphs. The van will be waiting here to take us back to the hotel.
Excursion to Cejar Lake by Mountain Bike
Departure from the hotel on mountain bikes to Cejar Lake, located south of San Pedro de Atacama and consisting of 3 lakes in the middle of the salt flats with the same name They have a characteristic intense emerald green color. Here we can swim and float in the waters which have a high salt content. Return to the hotel by van.
Sisters of The Desert by Mountain Bike
Departure from the hotel by van to Cejar Lake where we will take a tour around the three lakes located south of San Pedro de Atacama. Then we will continue our journey on MTB to Tebinquiche Lake, located south of Cejar lake, where we will observe some species of bird life. Return to the hotel by van.
Milagrosa Gorge by Mountain Bike
Departure from the hotel by van to the lookout point located between the Vilama Gorge and the Katarpe Valley with a view of the Cordillera de la Sal, the Katarpe Valley, and the Volcanic Belt. At this point, we will start the tour of the Katarpe Valley by MTB to the entrance of the Kunza Hotel located in the Yaye Ayllu.
Caravan Route by Mountain Bike
Departure from the hotel by van to Katarpe. The Mountain Bike tour will start in the valley, taking us through the labyrinthine Cordillera de la Sal to the Valley of Patience.
Here we will stop at the La Sal lookout point with a view of the spectacular mountain range and then carry on to Piedra de la Coca to look at the petroglyphs. Finally, we reach the Valley of Patience where the van will be waiting to take us back to the hotel.
Testigos de Los Salares (Witnesses of The Salt Flats) by Mountain Bike
Departure from the hotel by van to Camar Alto, a picturesque village in the Atacama desert. From the heights, we will start a daring descent on mountain bikes with a view over the immensity of the salt flats. The trip ends at Route CH-23 where the van will be waiting to take us back to the hotel.
Secret of The Valley
Departure from the hotel by van to Tulor to visit the archaeological ruins there, and then carry on to the valley of the Moon to visit the Salt Caves. The journey continues to the Duna Mayor, which we will climb for a beautiful view of the Cordillera de la Sal, the Valley of Death and the Salt Flats, among many others. Return to the hotel by van.
Zapar Trail
Departure from the hotel by van to Zapar. The outing starts in the gorge with a visit to a spectacular archaeological site and then continues upstream through the gorge to a point with a spectacular view of the salt flats. We will finally reach the Zapar Valley and then return to the hotel.
Live Earth
Departure from the hotel by van to the lookout point located between the Vilama and Katarpe Gorges. From there we will hike through the Katarpe valley to the village church, where the van will be waiting to take us back to the hotel.
Two Treasures: The Treasures of Men & The Treasures of The Earth
Departure from the hotel by van to the Gorge of the 7 Colors, from where we will hike to the Matancilla valley where the van will be waiting to take us to the Hierbas Buenas Gorge. Here we will take a tour to look at the petroglyphs. Return to the hotel by van.
Phantom Route
Departure from the hotel by van to the Old Tunnel where we will start the hike through the Comisas to finally reach the Valley of Death where we will descend the big dune on sandboards. Return to the hotel by van.
Route of The Mineral Waters
Departure from the hotel by van to the Guatín Gorge. The van will drop us off two kilometers into the gorge, where we will begin a hike through a beautiful valley, accompanied by the natural flora and fauna, to the relaxing Puritama hot springs.
Two Beauties & Their Guardians
Departure by van to the Queipaco wetlands to observe the local flora and fauna, followed by a visit to the Testigos de Pacana, majestic geomorphological formations in the form of vertical columns rising out of the desert like gigantic human forms.
We will then continue the journey to the Tara Salt flats for a short hike to observe the rich flora and fauna of the area and the spectacular beauty of the scenery. Return to the hotel
Miscanti & Meñiques Lakes
Departure from the hotel by van to the Miscanti and Meñiques altiplano lakes, at 4,500 meters above sea level. A tour around the area will enable us to appreciate the different color tones of the mountains and the unique flora and fauna, with species that only exist in this protected area. Then we drive down to the historical town of Socaire for a lunch of typical food in traditional eating houses. Return to the hotel by van.
Peoples of The Heights
Departure from the hotel to Ayquina, a town located on the northern banks of the Salado River. Here we will visit the old quarter where the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe is located. Then we will continue the journey to Toconce where we will visit some archaeological sites.
We carry on to Turi, (a livestock farming town) where we will visit the Turi wetlands and the hot springs with the same name. Finally, we end the trip in the town of Chiu-Chiu where we will visit the Pucará with the same name, a fortress dating back to 3,000 AD. Return to the hotel.
Loa Canyon
Departure from the hotel by van to the Las Papas mountain to observe the characteristic giant cacti and boulders. We then carry on to the former San Pedro train station to begin the ascent of the Poruña Volcano. From the top of this volcano, we can view the Loa River Canyon and the San Pedro and San Pablo volcanoes. Transfer by van to Lasana for lunch. Return to the hotel.
Talabre Viejo
Departure from the hotel by van to Tumbre, a cattle ranching settlement used by the inhabitants of Talabre. From Tumbre we start the hike to Talabre Viejo, a picturesque Atacama town on the foothills of the Lascar Volcano, to finally return to the hotel by van.
Inca Trail
Departure from the hotel by van to Lejia Lake, located on the high plateau. Lejia Lake is one of the most unspoiled sites we visit, notable for its wild landscape including the active volcano Lascar and the volcanic belt surrounding it with jutting volcano and mountain peaks.
From here we start the hike skirting the mountain of the same name to the Nascimento Gorge where we will have lunch and then carry on to Socaire where the tour ends. Return to the hotel by van.
Tulan Tilomonte
Departure from the hotel by van to the Tulan Gorge to look at the rock paintings. From this point we start the hike from Tulan to Tilomonte, observing the terraced fields of the inhabitants of Peine, and finally return to the hotel by van.
Mining Town
Departure from the hotel by van to San Bartolo where the hike begins. Here we can visit ancient cemeteries associated with the former mining exploitation activities and the flora and fauna of the area. Following the basin of the San Pedro River, we reach Tambo Katarpe. Return to the hotel by van.
Natural Explosions
Departure from the hotel at 5:00 am to the El Tatio Geysers for a walking tour along the trails inside the geothermic filed to observe the famous water spouts and pools of boiling water. After this walk, we will carry on to the Copa Coya Volcano for a hike in its surroundings. Return to the hotel, by van.
Pampa del Inca by Mountain Bike
Departure from the hotel by van to the Lejia Mountain where we begin the Mountain Bike tour along the trail to Socaire where we can observe the salt flats and a rich variety of flora and fauna (lunch between Lejia Mountain and Socaire).
Talabre - Los Patos
Departure from the hotel by van to Talabre, located in the foothills of the Lascar Volcano. From there we will start our hike crossing two gorges to reach the Los Patos Gorge, where we can admire the pictographs, petroglyphs and the local flora and fauna. There will be a great visit to the Atacama Salt Flats on the way back to Talabre and then we take the van to return to the hotel.
Guatín - Punta del Inca
Departure from the hotel by van to the Guatín Gorge where we will find a large group of Cardones (cacti), hundreds of years old. From here we will start our hike down the canyon with a superb view of the salt flats, observing the local flora and fauna until we reach the Punta del Inca sector where the van will be waiting to take us back to the hotel.
Kari
Departure from the hotel by van to the lookout point on the Cordillera de La Sal, where we will start the hike along plains and through gorges, listening to the mysterious rumblings of the earth, to finally end in the Valley of The Moon.
Las Cornizas
Departure from the hotel by van to the Cordillera de La Sal where we will start the hike to the upper part of the Valley of Death. From here we will climb down the dunes, with a fabulous view of the salt flats and their surroundings.
