Finca Barlovento is a green leader in the area and works hard to maintain an eco-friendly space by minimizing in every possible aspect the impact that tourism may have on the ecosystem.
Barlovento Cabaña, which is the property`s original house, is dramatically located on a cliff with the ocean at its feet. Rooms are open to the ocean and it has a lovely communal dinning table and a large terrace hanging over the beach. Three rooms share two airy bathrooms plus there is a suite with a private bathroom and terrace.
Both Maloka and Maloka Suites have ample rooms with private bathrooms. The suites have air conditioning.
At Cabaña and Maloka dinning is communal which will give you the chance to meet new friends and share experiences.
The location of Finca Barlovento is a privileged one as it is adjacent to Parque Tayrona. You are just two kilometers away from the park´s entrance and can get there in five minutes by car, moto taxi, bus or even walk. The property lies between the river and the ocean, with beaches almost always deserted.
It is an ideal place to commune with nature and watch the fauna which includes a great variety of birds, squirrels, iguanas, monkeys and our local celebrities the crocodiles.
You can relax at the beaches right at the property, spend a day at the park, trek to Pueblito, go to Palomino or Don Diego where you can drift down the river on an inner tube. Our staff will do their best to help you and advise you.
Rooms in Barlovento Cabana are under thatched roof with a beautiful veranda and no windows. Three rooms share two airy bathrooms plus there is a suite with a private bathroom and terrace. All face the ocean. You must keep in mind that the ocean is noisy. If that is a concern then Maloka may be a better choice.
Maloka means house to many indigenous tribes in Colombia and South America. It consists of a large thatched roof with an ample dwelling space under it. The palm leaves, which make up the roof, provide shelter and a welcome coolness in the tropical climate.
Maloka has been built by local artisans with natural materials found in the Sierra Nevada and following ancestral architectural traditions. Rooms at Maloka are spacious, have private bathrooms and a nice corridor in which you can sit and admire either the river, the ocean or the jungle. It also has a charming and well appointed social area.
