Harmony Hotel , Costa Rica

Inspired by old school tropical destinations of eras that appreciated low key glamour and total escape, The Harmony Hotel in Nosara, Costa Rica opened in 2004.

From the beginning, it has been a passion project for the owners—a couple who met surfing in Nosara—and all those involved in creating the lush, sustainable property where guests now mingle with hummingbirds and howler monkeys.

Situated a stone’s throw from a pristine surf break with consistent year-round waves on Playa Guiones, the Harmony is ideal for a surfing adventure. But it is much more than that. It is a place for community and ideas—an ideal space for contemplation and deep relaxation.

Harmony Hotel Healing Center

Enter our spacious open-air yoga studio and feel yourself go, ahhhh. Relax your gaze onto layers of deep green jungle as the sounds of geckos and birds punctuate the silence. Look out onto the incredible natural surroundings. No walls. No mirrors. The space itself is soothing. And so are our classes.

We believe in a conscious practice and encourage balance from the inside out. We support a healthy, balanced lifestyle. With a roster of incredible instructors a variety of classes offered seven days a week, we love working with yogis at every level. Adjacent to our yoga studio, is an additional open-air yoga sanctuary located near a lily-filled pond where our animal friends get water in the dry season.

The Harmony is situated a two-minute walk down a jungle path to Playa Guiones where you’ll find consistent year-round waves. Warm air and offshore breezes make for great conditions at this sandy beach break with tasty lefts and rights. Swells vary from waist high to double overhead.

Harmony Hotel Sunset Surf

With a long, shallow bottom at low tide, it’s a great place for beginners to learn, while seasoned surfers get their ya-yas out on the outside.

No wonder National Geographic named Nosara one of the world’s top twenty surf towns. Surfers of all levels won’t want to miss the glassy late afternoon waves when the sky explodes with color as the sun dips.

The Harmony’s restaurant showcases the bounty of the Nosara area. We are located in a region full of farms, fisherman and fruit trees. Lucky us. Lucky you.

We use fresh, local ingredients whenever possible and work with producers who share their sustainable values. They also source some of their produce from their very own nearby farm.

Note that there are no lifeguards on local beaches, and there can be rip currents, so normal precautions are necessary.

  • If you prefer to stay put at the Harmony, we offer a tour of our beautiful native plant gardens. Gain a deeper understanding of various plant species and how important they are to the rich biodiversity of our local ecosystem.

You’ll also learn about the systems we use to convert waste from the hotel into nourishment for the gardens.
