Sustainably built using reclaimed wood and hydroelectric powered, the ecolodge is a model of ecotourism (they even have numerous awards to prove it).
A stay here at Rios Lodge is a chance to reconnect with yourself and the healing power of nature. Do yoga on the deck facing the river, hike miles of trails and soak in numerous waterfalls and pools, check off your tropical bird list with exquisite birdwatching, or chill out in our hammocks. Hang out with friends and family in our open-air dining pavilion and lounge deck and enjoy cocktails overlooking the river, while you watch brightly colored toucans fly across the river and sing high up in the canopy. Sip your coffee and listen to howler monkeys getting ready for their day. Magical!
Rios Lodge is much more than a great place to stay for a cool Costa Rica adventure vacation! We have sustainability and conservation at the forefront of everything we do. Our mission is to expand conservation partnerships and projects in the Pacuare River Basin, while being regenerative stewards here at the Lodge. We are supporting science projects in the primary rainforest properties, helping to reforest secondary rainforest pasture land, and are developing biodiversity metrics to steward the conservation legacy of Rafael (Rafa) Gallo in the Pacuare River watershed since 1985.

For example, the ecolodge uses hydroelectric power and was constructed from reclaimed lumber by local Cabecar Indians; they recycle and compost everything possible; and they diligently practice Leave No Trace principles at the lodge and on all our trips.
