Hacienda Pinsaqui , Ecuador

One and a half hours north of Quito, Hacienda Pinsaqui is ideally located at the flanks of the Imbabura Volcano and in the heart of Ecuador lake province.

Its location also allows easy access to the region's many attractions: the lakes of San Pablo, Cuicocha and Mojanda, as well as the white colonial city of Ibarra and local handicraft villages like Cotacachi.

Constructed in 1790 Hacienda Pinsaquí was originally a colonial textile enterprise, employing over one thousand weavers and spinners. Many of Pinsaquí's fabrics were exported to the United States in the late 1800s where they first received international recognition. To this day, the Hacienda retains the character and authenticity of its earlier incarnation, making for a unique travel experience.

The hacienda has 30 well-appointed suites with fireplaces (some with Jacuzzi), restaurant featuring the finest Ecuadorian and international cuisine, Terrace snack bar with lovely views of the garden, room service, reading library, chapel, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking. Daily breakfast and dinner included.

Each room is unique and has a character all of its own. Within the rooms you will find sheepskin rugs, heavy blankets and pieces of traditional art. Most rooms have a view overlooking the lovely gardens behind the hacienda.
