Hacienda Zuleta , Ecuador

Family, history, beauty - the authentic Andean hacienda experience in Ecuador at Hacienda Zuleta.

Blessed with an equatorial location, Hacienda Zuleta experiences a temperate climate all year round. Temperatures average between 70 and 75 degrees during the day with low humidity; nights tend to be crisp.

Hacienda Zuleta is a stunning 17th century hotel and working farm of former president Galo Plaza Lasso and his family. Created with his natural warmth, hospitality, and community ties, Hacienda Zuleta is blessed with beautiful antique rooms, delicious homegrown Andean cuisine, and a wealth of activities to choose from.

Hacienda Zuleta - Imbabura Province, Ecuador

Hacienda Zuleta's core ethos is to welcome you as part of our family during your stay. You live in the rooms our family members grew up in and return to, experience the personalized service at our antique dining table, and hear the funny (and sometimes hair-raising) stories of the past as you sit by the fireside.

You ride the horses bred here across generations, walk the lanes laid down by Galo Plaza Lasso, eat from the gardens his wife lovingly created, and explore the community they helped forge together with the local people.

Hacienda Zuleta

Visit mountain lakes and enjoy gorgeous vistas while riding on our own breed of horses, walk or bike hidden trails with centuries of history, see and learn about endangered species at our Condor Huasi facilities, or take up a cookery or embroidery class. You will find all this and more at Hacienda Zuleta!

The hacienda is located about 65 miles from Quito in the Andean highlands. Hacienda Zuleta offers a great variety of activities and excursions for guests. Horseback riding is the specialty, along with mountain biking and horse-drawn carriage rides on hacienda grounds to observe the agriculture, mountain views and the tranquil life of the community.
