Ometepe Island is a remote island formed by two volcanoes, Concepcion and Maderas, rising from Lake Nicaragua and joined by a low isthmus. Most of the activities here are accordingly centered around volcano touring, marine life, and wildlife. The island and surrounding area is remote and fertile, thus harboring an abundance of both land-dwelling and marine species.
