Originally opened in 1925 by the name of “Hotel Santa Rosa," El Albergue is a historic and romantic lodge, located in the Ollantaytambo train station little more than an hour away from Machu Picchu and the city of Cusco.
Over the years, El Albergue Ollantaytambo has grown and changed from an historic train station hotel into a place of hospitality, tradition and sustainability.
With an organic farm that provides produce for our renowned restaurant, a pachamanca lunch that honors the history and culture of the Andes, and an oasis of gardens bursting with flowers and fruits, we welcome our guests not only to stay but also to participate in the experience that is El Albergue.
The restaurant and café are open to hotel guests and travelers alike. Café Mayu on the train station platform offers espresso coffee, tea, cookies, brownies, sandwiches and salads.
Join us in the restaurant where you will find a full menu for breakfast lunch and dinner.
We have created our menu using fresh organic ingredients from our garden and Sacred Valley offering a selection of Peruvian and European flavors.
Alpaca steak, fresh salads, homemade fettuccine and fresh trout are a few items available on our menu.
In addition, we offer our Pachamanca farm lunch daily, with fresh ingredients cooked in a traditional "earth oven." Guests dine al fresco and enjoy a meal of freshly cooked meats, vegetables, and other farm dishes while enjoying the magnificent scenery of Ollantaytambo.
While you are at El Albergue you may spend your days visiting the Inca and Pre-Inca archeological sites of Ollantaytambo, Pisaq and Moray, river rafting and mountain biking, and enjoying the beauty and culture of the Andes.
El Albergue Ollantaytambo is happy to offer guests of El Albergue the use of fully-equipped mountain bikes, including helmets, gloves, reflectors, baskets, and bike locks. We also provide a detailed map of Ollantaytambo to outline the best bike trails.
