Upon arrival in Bogotá you will be welcomed by your bilingual travel guide and transferred to conveniently-located hotel where you will spend two nights.
This guided visit to the Colombian capital starts at the Plaza de Bolívar (the city’s main square) and government buildings situated around it and continues to the old colonial part of the city better known as “La Candelaria”, the San Francisco Church, the Gold Museum and the Emerald Museum. Thereafter you reach higher ground by taking a funicular railway or cable car to the top of the Monserrate Hill offering a spectacular view of the city.
In the morning you will set off with your guide to Villa de Leyva. On the way, stop at one of the most significant national monuments in Colombia: the “Boyacá Bridge”. On this bridge Simón Bolívar won his most decisive battle against Spanish settlers. Upon arrival in Villa de Leyva, we will visit the main square and enjoy the magic of this beautifully preserved colonial town, before going to your hotel for the night.
Today you will visit to Ráquira, a village of quaint and colorful small houses, famous for its pottery and ceramics before returning to the airport in Bogota. From there you will board a flight to Armenia where you will stay on a working coffee farm for two nights.
With breathtaking landscapes this is one of the most beautiful valleys in Colombia. Here one will find the impressive “Palma de Cera”, the Colombian national tree and one of the tallest varieties of palm in the world. Your tour of the Cocora Valley can be on foot or horseback . On the way back to Armenia the tour ends with a visit to Salento a picturesque village with an important the coffee culture.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cartagena de Indias, one of Columbia's most lively cities, situated on the Caribbean coast. You will transfer to your hotel, located in the historic center of town. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this interesting colonial town on your own.
You will take a half-day tour around Cartagena-- one of the most impressive urban centers in Latin America. It is an ancient city constructed in the Spanish colonial style and surrounded by high defensive walls. You are sure to be anamored with Cartagena’s mix of history and Caribbean charm. The tour takes us around all the historic buildings and plazas of the old city, including the “La Popa” Convent and San Felipe Castle. The afternoon will be free for exploration of the old city or to bathe in the Caribbean Sea.
