Poas Volcano National Park Tour
The drive to the 9,000-foot peak of Poas Volcano National Park is a scenic journey through coffee plantations, strawberry fields and lush dairy farms. The unusual vegetation in the park is the result of high elevation weather and acidic gases emitted from the main volcanic crater.

From behind a fence you look into the crater to see the hot steam vents and gray-green crater lake. In contrast to the constant activity in the main crater, a ½-mile trail through a gnarled dwarf forest will bring you to an overlook above the extinct crater of Lake Botos which is surrounded by dense forest along the circular crater rim.

Enjoy a leisurely stop at the La Paz Waterfall Gardens. With over 2 miles of walking trails, you can enjoy 5 waterfalls, cloud forest and rain forest, safe hiking trails, an aviary with 40 species of birds, a toucan feeding station, marmoset monkeys, an insect exhibit, serpentarium, orchid exhibits, butterfly observatory and butterfly gardens.

The area is home to two-toed sloths, Capuchin (white-faced) monkeys, black-handed spider monkeys, 26 documented species of hummingbird, ocelots, jaguarundi, margays and even oceltos and pumas. To stop here is to really indulge yourself in Costa Rica! Lunch and entrance fees are included.

"We had one of our best vacations ever in Costa Rica."

I was initially hesitant to work with an online travel agent… I need not have worried! Our agent at this Costa Rica travel company was very receptive to my questions and planned a great trip for us, making adjustments along the way. The intinerary he worked out was perfect for our family. I highly recommend working with this agency and this travel company. We will definitely return to Costa Rica, and will work with them again without hesitation to plan our trip.
