The Colombian Intensive Tour begins in the bustling capital, Bogotá. From Bogotá, you’ll embark on a breathtaking transition to the virtually untouched region of the Pacific coast. Day 1 : Bogota
You will be met at the airport upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Overnight Bogota hotel for two nights, daily breakfast included.
Day 2 : Bogota
Bogota City Tour
This guided visit to the Colombian capital starts at the Plaza de Bolívar (the city’s main square) and government buildings situated around it and continues to the old colonial part of the city better known as “La Candelaria”, the San Francisco Church, the Gold Museum (closed on Mondays) and the Emerald Museum.
Thereafter you reach higher ground by taking a funicular railway or cable car to the top of the Monserrate Hill offering a spectacular view of the city.
Day 3 : Bogota – Medellin – Nuqui
Hotel pickup and transfer to the airport for your flight to Nuquí with connection in Medellin.
You will be met at the airport in Nuquí and transferred to El Cantil ecolodge, located approximately one hour by boat to the south of Nuquí. El Cantil overlooks the sea and is equipped with seven comfortable rooms, with a maximum capacity for six people per room, they have excellent bathrooms with a jungle view, closets and each bed cover with a mosquito net, ocean view terraces and wood shingled roof.
In the social area there is a restaurant with a capacity for 35 persons, excellent view toward the ocean, two terraces to sunbathe.
In front of the rooms a covered area with rustic tables and a beautiful panoramic where you and your family may sunbathe during the day and stargaze at night. Water is not a problem in this region, its abundance guaranties a permanent supply at the lodge.
There is electric power for refrigeration and lighting with torches along the roads. The lodge has phones for direct national and international dialing.
Also available are two power boats, surf boards, kayak, diving equipment, compressor for tanks filling and boggie boards.
Package price includes all meals, Nuqui Airport transfers, fresh fruit daily, local English-speaking naturalist guide with extensive knowledge of the local area, an excursion to thermal baths, and another excursion to a hidden waterfall inside the tropical forest.
Plus a variety of programs planned every day, depending on the days of stay and plan selected. Excursions to the sea and the tropical forest that borders on the beach, whale watching (seasonal), surfing, diving, snorkeling.
Day 6 : Nuqui – Armenia
This morning you will transfer back to the Nuquí Airport for your flight to Armenia. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your Armenia hotel. Overnight for two nights with daily breakfast included.
Day 7 : Armenia
Coffee Production Process Of Armenia
You will visit a special coffee growing farm. This exciting visit includes a technical and practical introduction about the whole coffee cultivation and production process, from the harvest to the cup. You will be transformed into real coffee connoisseurs , having a great authentic experience.
Cocora Valley And Salento Tour
With breathtaking landscapes this is one of the most beautiful valleys in Colombia. Here one will find the impressive “Palma de Cera”, the Colombian national tree and one of the tallest varieties of palm in the world.
Your tour of the Cocora Valley can be on foot or horseback (at additional cost). On the way back to Armenia the tour ends with a visit to Salento a picturesque village with an important the coffee culture.
Day 8 : Armenia – Bogota – Neiva – San Agustin
This morning you will transfer to the airport for your flight to Neiva with connection in Bogota. From the Neiva Airport you continue the journey with an overland trip of 4–5 hours through the mountainous landscape of the River Magdalena to San Agustín. Reaching the village you will be transferred to a lovely hotel where you will enjoy a three-night stay, daily breakfast included.
Day 9 : San Agustin Archaeological Park
After breakfast, visit to San Agustín Archaeological Park, to Mesitas A – B – C and D, the “Fuente Ceremonial de Lavapatas” and the “Archaeological Museum”. Around noon, trip to the nearby village of San José de Isnos, which also includes the spectacular landscapes surrounding the “Salto del Mortiño” waterfall. Towards the end of the day, return trip to San Agustín. Time to rest and explore the village.
Day 10 : San Agustin – San José De Isnos
After breakfast depart on a trip to the nearby village of San José de Isnos, to see the treasures of its archaeological park, the “Alto de los Ídolos”, “Alto de las Piedras”, and the “Salto Del Mortiño” waterfalls. In the afternoon return to San Agustín where you will have free time for exploration.
Day 11 : San Agustin – Neiva – Bogota – Cartagena
Transfer back to the Neiva Airport for your flight to Cartagena with connection in Bogota.
Cartagena Airport reception and transfer to your hotel. Overnight Cartagena hotel for three nights, daily breakfast included.
Day 12 : Cartagena – Half-day city tour
Fascinating tour of Cartagena de Indias. You will visit the most representative monuments of the city including the Convent of La Popa (highest point in the city). You will go to the Castillo de San Felipe, an immense fort filled with history and mysteries hidden in its stone-walled tunnels.
Then, visit the monument to Zapatos Viejos, the “Old Shoes”. A defensive wall surrounds the old city, which overlooks the sea and its well-preserved colonial architecture makes Cartagena deserving of the title UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will find churches, museums, plazas, restaurants, shops and jewelry stores.
Day 13 : Barú and Rosario islands
You will be met at your hotel and transferred to the pier – “Muelle de los Pegasos”. Depart by speedboat crossing Cartagena Bay, passing through Bocachica and skirting the north coast of the island of Barú towards “El Rosario Islands”. First stop at Cholón beaches where you can enjoy the crystal clear waters.
Continue to Pirate Island. On arrival, a welcome coffee break and time to swim or relax on the small island. After a typical lunch, the trip continues to San Martín Island with a visit of the aquarium and a chance to see performing dolphins and sharks.
After that, you begin the return trip to Pirate Island where there wil be more time to relax, swim or snorkel. In the afternoon you return to Cartagena where you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Day 14 : Int’l Departure
Transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
