Arequipa is Peru's second largest city and was founded in 1540. The buildings in the center have been built almost exclusively of the volcanic material called 'sillar,' a white, porous rock, giving Arequipa its nickname of 'The White City'. The place is tranquil yet delightful, all set in a rich green valley at the foot of the mighty El Misti Volcano.

Northern Peru is one of South America’s last great frontiers for birding. Stretching from the steamy lowlands of the Amazon fringe to the cloud-wrapped ridges of the Andes, it harbors a dazzling concentration of ecosystems and endemic species.

Our 3-day tour of the northern coastal desert of Peru explores the lands of the Moche Civilization and Chimu Culture, pre-Inca contemporaries of the Nazca Civilization. This short trip makes an excellent post-trip extension to any Peru itinerary.

If you have limited time but still want to hike on the Inca Trail and enter Machu Picchu from above this is the day hike for you. 

Our first-class Inca Trail Trek will be led by a highly-experienced registered trekking guide and accompanied by crew of cook and porters.
