This journey through Paraguay and the borderlands of Brazil and Argentina offers a rare window into South America’s overlooked heart.
Beginning in Asunción, you step into a city where colonial facades and modern life share the same rhythm.

The capital’s elegant architecture, leafy avenues, and animated markets tell the story of a nation both old and resilient. Visits to landmarks such as the Government Palace, the National Heroes’ Mausoleum, and the House of Independence trace Paraguay’s long arc of history, while time at leisure allows for unhurried exploration of its quiet plazas and riverside cafés.
From Asunción, the route turns south across the fertile plains to Encarnación, gateway to Paraguay’s Jesuit missions. The ruins of Trinidad del Paraná and Jesús de Tavarangué stand as haunting reminders of the Jesuit experiment—communities that once blended European ideals and Guaraní traditions into a unique cultural tapestry. The guided visit reveals not only their architectural beauty but also the human story that shaped them: devotion, artistry, and the passage of empires.
The journey culminates at the border where Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina converge, with a stay near the thunderous Iguazú Falls. From the Brazilian side, the sweeping panorama shows the full grandeur of the cataracts, a spectacle of water, mist, and rainforest. The following day, the Argentine trails take you up close to the roar of the Devil’s Throat, where the river plunges into a chasm of spray. A visit to the Itaipú Dam—an immense feat of engineering—adds a modern counterpoint to the natural wonder.

Returning to Asunción, you complete a loop through history, culture, and nature—a passage from the colonial past to the present power and beauty of Paraguay’s frontiers. This itinerary balances guided discovery with open time, linking the highlights of the region into one coherent and deeply memorable journey.
