Xandari Resort and Spa in Alajuela, Costa Rica is a unique creation with tropical colors and contemporary design.

Xandari is set in Tacacorí de Alajuela on a ridge overlooking Costa Rica’s majestic Central Valley in the foothills of Poas Volcano, 1200 meters above sea level. We’re 20 minutes (7 kilometers) from Juan Santamaria International Airport, but a world away.

Art and architecture are highlights of the Xandari experience in Costa Rica. 24 spacious villas nestled on a 40-acre plantation are surrounded by lush gardens, with terraces facing spectacular views of Costa Rica’s majestic Central Valley day and night. Each is a unique design, with tropical colors and contemporary design.

A private forest reserve with rivers, five natural waterfalls, and 2.5 miles of trails offers excellent hiking, birding, and communion with nature. Three pools, each with a unique view of coffee plantations, provide added incentive for a morning swim.

Or, start your day in our Yoga studio and save your swim for later at our sunset pool. Wide range of natural treatments are offered in private jalapas at the Spa Village, each featuring a hot-tub overlooking forest and valley at 3,900 ft.

Xandari’s terrace restaurant features a variety of healthy choices, from Costa Rican specialties to Mediterranean and Californinan cuisines.

Our farm-to-table menu begins at breakfast and continues through lunch and dinner, featuring produce sourced from our own plantations using all-natural methods.

Guests at Xandari can see many varieties of the indigenous plants of Costa Rica in the gardens and along the trails, along with the wildlife that accompanies them. Plants are labeled on the botanic trails so guests can note the botanical and common names as they experience their tropical beauty on strolls and hikes.

Designed with relaxation in mind, most of the 24 villas feature private terraces with panoramic views and private gardens. All villas have natural cross-ventilation, and with a year-round temperature at Xandari of about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, air conditioning is not required. Daily breakfast included.

Hotel facilities and amenities include: free wireless Internet, restaurant, 3 swimming pools (2 are lap pools), 2 heated outdoor Jacuzzis, spa, laundry service. The Spa Village at Xandari is set in a tropical garden with a breathtaking view of the Central Valley.

Villa 20. Approximately 500 sq. ft. (46.45 sq meters). A round jalapa with a dramatic high palm roof, a king bed and a garden view. A favorite of bird watchers.

Villas 23 and 24, Approximately 600 sq. ft. (55.74 sq meters) are individual villas on our West Hill, with two full beds and a sofa/bed, and larger private garden area.

Ultra Villas

Approximately 735 sq. ft. (68.28 sq meters) Individual buildings with either king bed or two full beds. Located on the East Hill.

Ultra Plus Villas

Approximately 820 sq. ft. (76.18 sq meters) with king bed and 2 sofa beds, and larger private gardens, and are located on our West Hill.

Star Villa

The largest and very special villa measures 1,420 sq. ft. (131.92 sq meters) with two generous bedrooms: one with a king size bed and the other one with two double beds, two bathrooms, salon and dining area, office study with internet, television, full kitchen, and a panoramic view over tropical gardens, the sunset pool, and the expanse of the Central Valley.
