You’ll float down the Rio da Prata, explore the mysterious depths of the Mysterious Lagoon, and hike to the breathtaking Boca da Onça Waterfall, the tallest in the state. Day 1: Campo Grande
You will be met upon arrival at the Campo Grande Airport and transfer directly to the Caiman Lodge in the Pantanal. Approximate driving time – 3 1/2 hours*. Afternoon tour to explore the amazing nature of the surroundings.
Dinner and overnight. *With alternate flights Campo Grande-Caiman Lodge (40-minute flight/twin-engine Seneca)/Bonito-Campo Grande (50-minute flight/twin-engine Seneca) at additional cost.

At Caiman Lodge there are great chances to spot jaguars; the lodge supports a Jaguar Research Center and provides the best support to find them, but the overall wildlife experience is so good that guests are always very pleased, even if not seeing the wild cats.
The lodge’s charming suites, remarkable services and delicious traditional cuisine will complement the surpassing nature and wildlife experience of the Pantanal.
Full days will be spent exploring the area of Caiman Lodge. Tour schedules are set by the lodge. Available tours: trekking, photo safari, canoeing, jeep safari and nocturnal spotlight. All meals, excursions and activities are included.
Day 2: Campo Grande – Bonito
You will be met at your hotel this morning (around 7:30 am) and set off on a 4-hour drive to Bonito (330 kms.). You will have a private driver / guide, and stops may be made along the way to Bonito.
The Hotel Santa Esmeralda is located 10 miles from Bonito city center and situated in a beautiful area by the Formoso River with charming accommodation and superb cuisine.
This is the perfect place to rest and enjoy the nature of Bonito out of the city area. The hotel has 18 suites, all equipped with air conditioning, hair dryer, minibar, television, living room and balcony with a hammock that provides a privileged view to the fields and forests of the region.
Some suites are equipped with SKY HDTV. Hotel facilities and amenities include: lounge with fireplace and piano, game room with snooker table and games table, living room with 32″ LCD TV with SKY HDTV and DVD, cozy bar and restaurant, tiled swimming pool, free wireless internet access.
Waterfalls, natural pools and ecological trails are accessible along the Formoso River. The itinerary in Bonito includes highlighted tours as snorkeling in crystal-clear water rivers, trails through riverine forests, waterfalls and exuberant nature. Daily breakfast and dinner included.
Day 3: Bonito
Estância Mimosa
Free morning to relax and enjoy the hotel area, which includes waterfalls, natural pools and ecological trails by the Formoso River.
Pickup at 11:00am and drive to Estância Mimosa, a beautiful spot on the margins of Rio Mimoso replete with pristine nature and excellent for birding.
A delicious lunch will be served upon arrival. Your afternoon tour will be a pleasant walk – birding through the gallery forests – to several spots where you can swim and relax in marvelous waterfalls, cascades and natural pools.
By the end of the day you will be able to visit the city of Bonito and its shops and stores before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Bonito
Mysterious Lagoon & Rio da Prata
We have selected the two top snorkeling tours for our clients to explore on the first full day. Pick up at the hotel after breakfast and drive to the Mysterious Lagoon.
The tour starts with a short trail through an amazing forest area, a great opportunity to observe the rich diversity of fauna and flora, and leads to the observatory, where travelers meet the stunning 75 meters deep doline (erosion) and the Mysterious Lagoon at its bottom.
The access to the lagoon is made down 179 safe stairs. At the lagoon you will receive mask, snorkel and life jacket and start the amazing exploration of the Mysterious Lagoon, impressive for its depth, the two dark blue abysses on the bottom and incredible transparency of the water.
After the first tour, proceed directly to Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata, selected several times as the number one attraction in Bonito. A delicious lunch will be served upon arrival with some time to rest. The afternoon tour will take you on a walk through the riverine forest to the Olho d’Água River Spring, a huge natural pool of crystal-clear waters.
You will enter the water with proper equipment (neoprene outerwear, mask and snorkel) and float downstream snorkeling for around 2 kms while enjoy the sight of an incredible natural aquarium. Return to hotel. Evening at leisure.
Day 5: Bonito
Boca da Onça Ecotour
Depart after breakfast to Boca da Onça Ecotour, an ecological paradise fulfilled by natural attractions. A four-kilometer path along preserved woodland takes you through ten waterfalls and several natural pools, where it is possible to swim, relax and watch splendid birds and the pristine vegetation.
The trail ends at Boca da Onça Waterfall, the highest of Mato Grosso do Sul State (156m) and highlight of the tour, truly spectacular!
After the tour you will return to the visitors center for a delicious lunch. You will have access to the natural swimming pool (with water coming from the river/stream) and relaxation areas with fantastic views of Maracaju Sierra Mountains and beautiful landscapes.
Return to your hotel. Evening at leisure.
Day 6: Bonito – Campo Grande
At the appropriate time you will transfer to the Campo Grande Airport for your onward flight.
