The journey quickly ascends into the misty, emerald embrace of the cloud forest. A scenic drive brings you to the Nectandra Cloud Forest Gardens near San Ramón, a horticultural sanctuary dedicated to revealing the spectacular biodiversity of this unique ecosystem. Wander the trails that weave through both ancient primary and thriving secondary forests, a living lesson in ecology where every leaf and bloom holds a secret. From Nectandra, you’ll descend deeper into the natural world at El Silencio Lodge & Spa in Bajos Del Toro.
Flanked by majestic national parks, this lodge is an immersion in nature, where the roar of waterfalls soundtracks your stay and 500 acres of private cloud forest reserve become your playground. Here, the complimentary soft-hike is a gentle introduction to a landscape of continuous mist, towering trees, and the heartfelt, eco-conscious hospitality that defines Costa Rica.

A quick flight from the central valley brings a dramatic shift in landscape to the azure waters of the Gulf of Nicoya and the unforgettable experience of Isla Chiquita. This “little island” introduces you to a groundbreaking concept: Costa Rica’s first island tent resort. Imagine the thrill of a seaside expedition combined with the sheer comfort of a luxury retreat. Your glamping tent, set on an elevated platform, provides spacious privacy and breathtaking ocean views. Isla Chiquita invites you to shed the routine and embrace self-powered adventure.
Grab a kayak or paddleboard to explore the surrounding sea, or follow the trails inland, knowing that every meal is a celebration of “net-to-table” freshness.

The final act of your journey takes you to the sun-drenched Pacific coast and the bohemian luxury of Nosara. Perched in the dry tropical forest of the Nicoya Peninsula, Lagarta Lodge is an elegant sanctuary woven into a landscape of two rivers, expansive beaches, and its own magnificent private nature reserve. Over nearly ninety acres, well-marked paths offer endless opportunities for wildlife spotting, from troops of howler monkeys to colorful coatis and vibrant birds.
