Estancia Nibepo Aike – El Calafate, Argentina

Estancia Nibepo Aike is an estancia (ranch) in El Calafate, Argentina that retains the essence of the original Patagonian estancias.

Imposing mountains, far from everything but close to the Perito Moreno Glacier in the Argentinean Patagonia, at Estancia Nibepo Aike rural life never stops.

It is located within “Los Glaciares” National Park on the banks of the Southern Arm of Lago Argentino, 34 miles from El Calafate, covering an area of more than 12,000 hectares, stretching to the border with Chile.

Estancia Nibepo Aike was formerly devoted to sheep production, maintaining a small herd nowadays, but its main output is breeding Hereford cattle, for which it has developed a prestigious herd.

The main buildings of the estancia are a relic of the typically Patagonian pioneer architecture. Guests at the lodge, located in the former main house, are invited to experience the authentic life of Patagonian estancias.

A house with more than 100 years of history. An opportunity to have a true experience of rural life in a real Patagonian ranch located inside Los Glaciares National Park.

New trips to the glaciers were added to the main activities: horseback riding, hiking and farm activities. At the table, family recipes, the well-known Patagonian roast lamb and the freshness of the vegetables produced in the ranch’s orchard. Night stays recommendable 2 to 4.

The imposing view of the Andes mountain range is ever-present, while the estancia’s everyday life carries on and it is common to see the men riding past herding the cattle and sheep while disappearing over the horizon. Behind the house is the farm and orchard which provides most of the food freshly prepared at the estancia.

Horseback riding, hiking and trekking, and participating in rural activities are some of the experiences offered to guests.

7-night Sea of Cortes Island-Hopping Mexico Adventure Cruise

The landscape feels prehistoric, as if time has paused between wind, tide, and volcanic stone. This voyage moves through that stillness — a week of islands, coves, and hidden beaches connected by salt water and starlight.
