The climate is refreshing, often referred to as “eternal spring”. The views of the Gulf of Nicoya from the hotel’s 1,400 meter (4,200 foot) elevation are spectacular. Monteverde is an ideal destination for relaxing and enjoying the wonders of the tropics. A visit of at least two nights or more in Monteverde is recommended.

Hotel Fonda Vela Gardens

On its 35 acres, the profound gift of nature is what Hotel Fonda Vela offers guests. Situated near the continental divide, Hotel Fonda Vela is home to some sixty different species of migratory birds, and over 200 species of non-migratory birds. It is possible to see the rare Resplendent Quetzal, Three-wattled Bellbird, the Blue Crowned Motmot, the Swallow-tailed Kites, and a great variety of hummingbirds.

You can also see a variety of reptiles, frogs, and small mammals. Some of the animals are indigenous to the area, and can only be found here.

Hotel Fonda Vela Jacuzzis

Hotel facilities include two restaurants: the elegant and spacious Galleria has walls of large windows with beautiful, tropical views. Sometimes wild animals come to the windows to watch the diners!

The cozy Fireside Room is accentuated by the crackle and dancing flames of a wood-burning fireplace. Other facilities include indoor swimming pool and two Jacuzzis, bar and pool table. Daily breakfast included.
