Rios Lodge – Pacuare, Costa Rica

The Rios Lodge, nestled on the banks of the Pacuare River, is the perfect escape from your everyday modern routine.

Here you are surrounded by the beauty and splendor of Costa Rica’s tropical rainforest, all while enjoying comfortable rooms overlooking the river, private baths, in-room electricity, lighted walkways at night, and sumptuous tropical meals and beverages, including our signature Sangria and robust Costa Rican coffee.

Sustainably built using reclaimed wood and hydroelectric powered, the ecolodge is a model of ecotourism (they even have numerous awards to prove it).

A stay here at Rios Lodge is a chance to reconnect with yourself and the healing power of nature. Do yoga on the deck facing the river, hike miles of trails and soak in numerous waterfalls and pools, check off your tropical bird list with exquisite birdwatching, or chill out in our hammocks. Hang out with friends and family in our open-air dining pavilion and lounge deck and enjoy cocktails overlooking the river, while you watch brightly colored toucans fly across the river and sing high up in the canopy. Sip your coffee and listen to howler monkeys getting ready for their day. Magical!

Rios Tropicales Lodge Costa Rica

Rios Lodge is much more than a great place to stay for a cool Costa Rica adventure vacation! We have sustainability and conservation at the forefront of everything we do. Our mission is to expand conservation partnerships and projects in the Pacuare River Basin, while being regenerative stewards here at the Lodge. We are supporting science projects in the primary rainforest properties, helping to reforest secondary rainforest pasture land, and are developing biodiversity metrics to steward the conservation legacy of Rafael (Rafa) Gallo in the Pacuare River watershed since 1985.

Rios Lodge is an intimate, remote, rainforest lodge with a mix of Cabin Suites, Deluxe Cabin Rooms, Classic Cabin Rooms, and an all new EcoHostel bunkhouse lodging complex. Our award-winning, sustainable lodge is off the grid with hydro-powered electricity. All our Cabin Rooms have private bathrooms, hot showers, fully screened windows, and covered porches. Our EcoHostel lodging has 8 bunkrooms with 8 beds each, shared bathrooms with private shower stalls, and a separate communal dining area and lounging decks – perfect for groups of up to 64 people. All lodging rooms include linens, towels, and eco-friendly shower toiletries. Regular 3-prong electrical outlets are in all rooms.

Rios Tropicales Lodge

Rios Lodge packages include your room, all meals, and hiking or rafting access to and from the lodge. Meals include lunch and dinner on your arrival day; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on any additional full days at the lodge; and breakfast and lunch on your departure day. Build your lodge package starting with your room selection and arrival date.

For example, the ecolodge uses hydroelectric power and was constructed from reclaimed lumber by local Cabecar Indians; they recycle and compost everything possible; and they diligently practice Leave No Trace principles at the lodge and on all our trips.
