Located less than one hour from the San José (Juan Santamaria) Airport, the Peace Lodge in Vara Blanca, Costa Rica is the perfect place to begin or end your vacation.

You don’t need to spend your first or last day in a city hotel. Please come spend them in the rain and cloud forest with us and still be close to the airport.

We are also only 20 minutes from the Poás Volcano, another must see attraction in Costa Rica.

Standard Guest Room

This 650 square foot room has a king size canopy bed viewing a grand river stone fireplace. The interior design of the room is only surpassed by the view from the balcony of the La Paz River Valley and the Poás Volcano. The best way to enjoy the view is from the Jacuzzi tub or swaying in the hammock on the balcony. The bathroom has an oversized mosaic tiled tub and elaborate waterfall shower.

Deluxe Guest Room

or those who desire the feel of the rain forest even when they are inside, this is the room for you. This 800 square foot room has an unbelievable garden bathroom designed for the true nature lover. A seven-foot waterfall comes to life as you soak in the Jacuzzi tub in the garden. There is also a garden shower and enclosed shower. All of this is surrounded by beautiful indoor landscaping and illuminated by a skylight.

Monarch Villa

This 1,200 square foot villa leaves nothing to be desired. First there are not one, not two, but three fireplaces to set the mood for this wonderland in the Cloud Forest. The master bedroom alone invokes thoughts of romance with its king size canopy bed set before a gas fireplace. The oversized master bathroom, complete with full Jacuzzi tub, fireplace (yes, fireplace) and waterfall shower will make you wonder why you aren’t staying longer.

Villa Lago

Villa Lago is the newest addition to Peace Lodge and is great for large families or couples travelling together. It hosts a living and dining area with a full kitchen, a large master bedroom and bath, a guest room with adjoining bath and a smaller bedroom with two single beds for children. Both marbled baths have Jacuzzi Tubs and there is a separate entrance from the living room in the guest bath.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens

Five waterfalls, cloud forest and rain forest, safe hiking trails, aviary with numerous species of birds, toucan feeding demonstration time, insect exhibit, butterfly observatory, capuchin (white-faced) monkeys, black-handed spider monkeys, hummingbird garden with 26 documented species, hummingbird hand feeding demonstration time in the mornings and afternoons, serpentarium (snake exhibit), jaguars, pumas, ocelots, margays, tica house with petting zoo and ox cart, ranarium (frog exhibit), orchid exhibit, heliconia exhibit.All guests are welcome to enjoy the park before it opens and after it closes, the optimal bird watching and wildlife viewing times. We are a great option as a bird watching hotel in the greater San José area because the rain forest literally surrounds the hotel and we have many hard to see species visit our feeders.

Guided walking tours are available, but we suggest booking these at the same time you reserve your room. Guests will be greeted in our new reception with a postcard view of the La Paz River Valley. Complimentary internet access is available to all of our guests in the rooms, restaurants, reception and almost the entire park.
