We saw so much wildlife, including capybaras, caiman, giant river otters, anacondas, and a multitude of bird species.
We spotted 9 different Jaguars, some of whom we saw more than once for a total if 15 sightings. We saw a caiman killing an anaconda, and river otters enjoying fish for breakfast (bones and all).
Our guide, Tom, was knowledgeable, informative, and such an amiable person. The rooms were nice and food was good.
The experience, in my opinion, could not be improved upon. There is nothing I would change.

The SouthWild Reserve covers 3,025 hectares (7,467 acres), making it the largest privately-owned Jaguar conservation area on the Three Brothers River, the most Jaguar-rich watershed in the world.
This reserve also includes 100% of the neighboring, Jaguar-packed “Black Channel” (“Corixo Negro” in Portuguese}, a locality that appears on many online Jaguar reports.
Jaguar Suites and Jaguar Retreat are the two Jaguar bases, located in the eastern and northern sections of Jaguarland, respectively. Each location offers exclusive SouthWild methods for offering you private viewing of Jaguars, far from the logjam of boats that develops at Jaguar sightings on the Black Channel and in the lowest 25 bends of the Three Brothers River.
Both Jaguar Suites and Jaguar Retreat feature resident SouthWild Jaguar Naturalists giving SouthWild’s exclusive scientific lectures and maintaining SouthWild’s unique, thirteen-year-old Jaguar ID guide. This amazing, painstaking dossier documents the spot patterns of 143 wild Jaguars, of which visitors see an average of 2.5-3 cats per day and a total of approximately 46 different cats in each May-though-December “Jaguar Season”.
Jaguar Suites features private Jaguar viewings on the Piquiri River, while Jaguar Retreat offers private Jaguar viewings far up the Three Brothers River.
The Jaguar Extreme program include 2 nights at the SouthWild Pantanal Lodge and 4 nights at the Jaguar Retreat. Staying at both lodging you will have great chances of seeing caimans, capybaras, jaguars, giant otters, ocelots, foxes, over a hundred bird species and a lot more.

Day 1: Cuiaba – SouthWild Pantanal Lodge
You will be met by your SouthWild guide at Cuiaba Airport. After lunch depart from Cuiaba by 2:30pm for the 3-hour transfer to SouthWild Pantanal Lodge. Stops to observe abundant wildlife on the Transpantaneira Road.
Arrive SWP between 5:00-7:00pm. Dinner at the lodge followed by a 500-meter walk to the viewing blind to wild Ocelots at close range.
Overnight SouthWild Pantanal Lodge.
Day 2: Jaguar Retreat Lodge
Observe abundant fauna around lodge. After breakfast, depart around 7:00am in open-sided, covered Safari Truck or closed air-conditioned van to the end of the road at Porto Jofre. Stops along the Transpantaneira to see wildlife.
Arrive at the end of the road by 10:00am. Depart on search boats 17 km on the Cuiaba River and 28 km upstream on the Three Brothers River to the Jaguar Retreat Lodge.
Lunch, followed by a 4-hour boat outing. Dinner and a science lecture at the lodge.
Overnight Jaguar Retreat Lodge.
Days 3-5: Jaguar Retreat Lodge
Two 4-hour boat outings per day in search for Jaguars and Giant Otters on some of these river channels: Upper Stretch of the Three Brothers, Canal de Carmindo, Lower Stretch of the Three Brothers River, Black Channel, Cuiaba and Piquiri. Dinner and a science lecture at the lodge.
Overnight Jaguar Retreat Lodge.
Day 6: Jaguar Retreat Lodge – SouthWild Pantanal Lodge
Breakfast at the lodge. Depart on a slow boat outing descending the Three Brothers and Cuiaba Rivers to Porto Jofre. Continue by road to SouthWild Pantanal Lodge in open Safari Truck or closed van.
Lunch followed by an afternoon 2-hour motorboat outing on the wildlife-rich Pixaim River.
After dinner, spotlighting in the safari truck or return to the blind to spot Ocelots.
Overnight SouthWild Pantanal Lodge or the Hotel Mato Grosso, next door.
Day 7: Cuiaba
Observe fauna right around the lodge. After breakfast, depart 7:00-8:00am in an air-conditioned vehicle for the transfer to the Cuiaba Airport. Arrive around noon. Lunch not included today.
