Hotel Villa San Ignacio in Alajuela, Costa Rica has been renovated to recall its original rustic charm.

Within the hotel and on its grounds one can enjoy the wide variety of native trees and fruit trees spread throughout the property, the undeveloped 7 acres is a haven for some of Costa Rica’s most brilliant birds.

We provide an ideal location to spot elusive members of the species, such as mot mots, chachalacas, flycatchers, wrens, parrots, tanagers, warblers, euphonias, woodpeckers, and the sweetly busy hummingbirds.

With seven acres of verdant grounds and a variety meeting areas, Hotel Villa San Ignacio is the ideal location for corporate and special events.

In another past life, it was owned by a botanist, and we have this devoted gentleman to thank for the lovely grounds that team with wild flowers,fruit trees, and the birds and butterflies they invite.

Alajuela Province is famous for having “the best weather in the world.” In this tropical paradise, the temperature remains an average of 77 °F / 25 °C all year round. The temperatures are perfect for relaxing by the pool, playing a game of badminton or strolling on the trails hoping to spot a few of Costa Rica’s treasured birds.

Pandora is a casual dining experience with seating in our charming restaurant and outside on the terrace. Enjoy a leisurely multi course dinner or a light snack; our menus cater to all appetites.

Daily specials are offered in addition to the lunch and dinner menus. Our featured appetizers and special entrees are chosen for the season and most often are based on the produce hand picked from our vegetable garden. Our bar is fully stocked with a wide range of premium spirits, an extensive wine list, and local beer.

Hotel Villa San Ignacio offers Single Queen rooms for 1 or 2 guests, Double Queen rooms for up to four guests and Master Suites for up to 6 guests. The 16 rooms are positioned in two areas, the single queen rooms are only steps to the restaurant, pool and entrance to the trails, and the double queen and master suites are located a short walk up our hill.

From this vantage, the double queen and master suites located on both the first and second floors have broader views of the green areas and distant mountains.

The rooms occupy only a small area of the property and give you a sense of staying further outside the city, while only 7 kilometers to the San Jose International airport.
